❓Frequently Asked Questions
How deep should soil be in a flower bed?
For most flowers and perennials, 6-8 inches of good soil is sufficient. For vegetables and deep-rooted plants, 12 inches or more is ideal. For amending existing beds, add 4 inches of compost.
How thick should mulch be?
Apply 2-4 inches of mulch, with 3 inches being ideal for most applications. Mulch thinner around plant stems and thicker between plants. Too much mulch can suffocate roots and promote disease.
