Siding Visualizer: Try New Siding on a Photo of Your House

Upload a photo of the front of your house and see it with new siding: another material, profile or color, on your own walls instead of a brochure house. The studio below is set to change the siding only; pick an idea to try a specific look.

Siding ideas to try on your house

Each idea hands the studio a siding brief. After you upload a photo you can edit the words, for example to name a different color.

  • White board and batten

Wide vertical boards with narrow battens over the joints: the modern farmhouse look. Crisp with a black or dark gray roof and dark window frames.

  • Gray lap siding

Horizontal lap siding, the most common profile on American houses, in a mid gray. A mid tone hides dirt and works with black, gray and brown roofs.

  • Navy fiber cement

Deep navy plank siding: a classic on colonial and coastal houses. It looks best where the trim and the window frames are already white.

  • Cedar shake

Natural cedar shingles in a warm brown, for cottages, craftsman and shingle-style houses. Untreated cedar weathers to a silver gray over the years.

  • Stone base, siding above

Stacked stone along the lower part of the front with siding above it: adds weight and texture to a plain facade, especially on ranch and craftsman houses.

  • Charcoal vertical panels

Dark charcoal vertical siding for a modern house. Wood accents around the entry or under the eaves keep a dark house from looking flat.

How to choose siding that suits your house

A few checks before you compare quotes, whatever the material.

  • Start from what staysThe roof, any brick or stone and the windows usually stay. Pick siding that works with their colors: warm siding with a brown roof, cool whites and grays with a black or gray roof.
  • The profile sets the styleHorizontal lap reads traditional, vertical board and batten reads farmhouse or modern, shakes read cottage. Horizontal lines make a low house look wider; vertical lines add height.
  • Light or darkLight siding makes a small house look larger and stays cooler in the sun. Dark siding looks striking and hides dirt, but it can fade faster in strong sun: ask about the color's warranty.
  • Check real samples in daylightA preview is a guide to the look, not a color match. Before you order, hold real samples against the wall in morning and afternoon light, next to the trim and the roof.

How to use the siding visualizer

  1. Photograph the front of the house

Stand across the street or at the end of the driveway in daylight, with the whole front and the roofline in the frame. Move the car if you can: what covers a wall cannot be redesigned.

  2. Pick a siding idea, or describe your own

Choose an idea on this page, or describe the material and color you want. Under Keep, the roofline, the window and door openings, the porch and the driveway are always kept.

  3. Generate and compare

Each design uses 1 credit, and a guest gets 3 free credits a day. Drag the slider to compare it with your photo, then try another idea on the same photo.

What the siding visualizer can and cannot do

It can

  • Show a new siding material, profile and color on a photo of your own house
  • Keep the shape of the house, the roofline and the window and door openings
  • Let you compare several looks on the same photo before you ask for quotes

It cannot

  • Match a manufacturer's exact color: check real samples before you order
  • Measure your walls or count squares of siding: use the siding calculator
  • Promise that nothing else changes: compare each design with your photo

Siding visualizer questions

Is the siding visualizer free?

Starting is free. Each design uses 1 credit: a guest gets 3 free credits a day and a free account 4, and paid plans add monthly credits. Changing one more thing on a result is an edit: it uses 5 credits and needs a free account. Credits are spent only when you generate or apply.

What kind of photo works best?

A daylight photo taken from across the street, with the whole front of the house in view. A corner view that shows two sides works too. Very dark, blurry or close-up photos give weaker results, and anything in front of a wall, like a car or a tree, stays in front of it.

Can I try vinyl, fiber cement, wood and stone?

Yes. Pick an idea above or describe the material in your own words: vinyl or fiber cement lap siding, board and batten, cedar shakes, vertical panels, or a stone or brick base. The preview shows the look of the material; it does not know brands or product lines.

Will it keep my roof and windows?

The siding brief asks the AI to change only the siding and keep the roof, windows, doors, trim, porch and planting. Under Keep, the roofline, the window and door openings, the porch and the driveway are always kept, and you can add Garage door or Existing planting. Results vary: compare each design with your photo and generate again if something else changed.

How do I know how much siding I need?

The preview does not measure anything. Use the siding calculator to estimate squares from your wall sizes, and have an installer measure before you order.

Can I change the roof or the garage door too?

Yes. Try the roof color visualizer for shingle, metal and tile roofs, and the garage door visualizer for the garage. On a result, Change something lets you describe one more change, such as a new front door color: it is an edit, so it uses 5 credits and needs a free account.
